Will Watson Bio
Will Watson is an International award winning filmmaker. His latest film called, “Haka and Guitars” screened at 31 festivals around the world and won 6 best international documentary awards. In 2017 Haka and Guitars played at the Palais in Cannes during the Cannes Film Festival having won the best World Peace documentary.
Will started out his careers in journalism and publishing in the 1990’s and then moved into film making in 2002. His first jobs were as a cameraman for the BBC, ITV, Al Jazeera and then moving up to be a Director of Photographer for larger international films such as “Dream Catchers” for the Mike Hancock Film Company.
Will is currently the owner of TMI Pictures and is working as an Executive Producer with two high profile production companies in New Zealand. The first being Murray Francis of Propaganda Films to create a slate of 3 international drama films and Vicky Pope of POP films to create, “Savage” an NZ Feature Film due to start in July 2018. He is also co-producing a documentary called, “Alpha Rules” in London with Two Man Crew.
Will is currently directing a feature length documentary called, “Soldiers Without Guns” which tells the story of the New Zealand and Australian Defence Force ending the Papua New Guinea civil war using guitars instead of guns. His work on “Soldiers Without Guns” led to him doing a TED talk and winning an international humanitiarian award with the World Peace Initiative.
